We booked the soft adventure camp and were delighted to receive a free upgrade to the Namib Naukluft Lodge upon arrival, which was not taken for granted; the room was nice and clean with a stunning view of nature, the sunset by the pool was a personal highlight, the staff were very accommodating, and they respected special dietary needs such as vegetarian and gluten‑free.

“An amazing location to relax and experience the desert, dark skies and birds.”

We booked this place just as a base for visiting Sossusvlei, but we ended up loving it for its own merits. The cabins are set in a loose arc around a rocky outcrop, with a communal dining area a little higher up and a tiny, chilly pool that’s impressively positioned. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely. Food was plentiful and tasty, and we could also use the more developed facilities at Namib Naukluft Lodge, a 10‑minute walk away. The best part was the stunning desert views and the dark skies at night, plus the many birds and other wildlife we enjoyed watching. The pool cut into the rock is small and cold in August, but that’s not a problem if you prefer the larger pool at the main lodge for swimming.

We appreciated the pool with its lovely desert view and the friendly manager, and the barbecue was tasty. We spotted zebras with binoculars at breakfast. The Wi‑Fi only works at the lodge, not at the camp, and it’s not high speed. The staff could use a bit more training.
