“Špatné”
Be careful with ultra‑cheap accommodation in Sri Lanka. The host only wanted to communicate via WhatsApp, which was awkward and limited. He first asked if we wanted a tuk‑tuk from the railway station, then immediately told us the bathroom wasn’t functional and offered us another place – I didn’t agree. Reservations are non‑refundable, so you pay the full amount for cancellation, and if you officially ask the owner to cancel without a fee, he won’t cancel it (you just need to click one item or send an email). I had to go through support, and after two or three days they replied that they would refund the amount. If the owner knows the bathroom doesn’t work, he should not offer it and stop the listing. I think this is a big scam and he makes money from cancellation fees. Most Sri Lankans are decent, but many locals try to swindle white tourists out of all the money in their wallet, and this guy is among them. Everyone beware of ultra‑cheap accommodation in Sri Lanka.
