“Juste pour une nuit, de passage, sans plus”
We were assigned a small apartment (no kitchen) with two large rooms, a hallway, and a bathroom, even though we were just two people for one night. It faced a busy road (though on the second line), whereas the lady with her son who stayed several nights got the double room we had booked, which was on the quieter side with a small shared terrace next to the parking. The place is large, modern, and generally well-equipped (each room has a big TV, though we couldn’t use it because the box was complicated). The bedding is good and everything is clean. The buffet breakfast is in a small, bright, modern room with a small terrace, plenty of salty and sweet cold and hot options, and an unlimited hot beverage machine. We didn’t try the nearby pizzeria, which looked renovated with a large terrace but faced the busy road. There was no staff greeting; you arrive at the door, have a phone number, and when you call you’re told there’s a letter in the mailbox with your key. The setting feels atypical because it’s close to the main Ötztal road (and we were in the second line of the building, apparently there are also rooms in the pizzeria owned by the same proprietor directly on the road). There are no walks from the house’s location, which is tucked between the road and the river, though there is a bus stop right next to it. The apartment is “eye‑catching” (colored LED lights on the ceiling, etc.) but not very functional (the bed is poorly placed in one room, no place to hang towels in the bathroom, bedside lamps are not good for reading, etc.) and the materials are low quality despite being relatively new (the bathroom curtain is broken, the shower tap leaks, the shower door isn’t watertight, etc.). No breakfast staff spoke German and seemed very distant. There’s no local, mountain, Tyrolean vibe. Overall, it’s okay for a short stay but not for a longer visit, and the price is high, though we had no choice and booked at the last minute.
