“Cute house and kind hosts.”
I actually liked the location at Naka Karuizawa, which is not far to walk to the station—just a 15‑minute easy walk. The house is quirky with woods behind it. The hosts are very nice, helped us with our bags, and welcomed us with chilled tea on a hot day. They were the only hosts who did that for us. Thank you, Meiko san. Very thoughtful and kind, and they also called a taxi for us. Nothing negative.
Despite the owner being in recovery from illness, the service was as attentive as usual.
Everything was wonderful. The warm living room welcomed us, and the host offered us hot apple tea and helped carry our luggage upstairs. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, the host chatted enthusiastically (the grandfather spoke English well). Whether day or night, it was very comfortable. I saw on the internet that the first floor’s environment was amazing, and it lived up to my expectations. The warm moments spent in Karuizawa became a beautiful memory. Wishing the hosts continued good health 😊😊
“来年は考えます…”
The place was almost a private rental, but the owner seemed to be on a half‑day off due to illness. This was my third stay, and because I had booked six months in advance, I was able to stay again. However, the road leading to the property was closed for major construction, and GPS led me to dead ends, leaving me lost in the dark and making it hard to reach the hotel. The parking lot was also closed, so I parked my car in front of the house where there were two spots available. The room’s air conditioner was unusable; only a fan was working, and it seemed like it had worked before, so I couldn’t sleep comfortably in the humid night. The bathtub was empty, leaving only a shower, which felt inadequate. It seemed the owner was in a half‑day off situation, but I would have liked some message or update.
The owner was friendly, and the living room had a cozy atmosphere. The soba shop they recommended was delicious.
