The location is good. However, the pillows were uncomfortable and the bed needed a mattress topper.

The location was okay. The accommodation was misleading at best. When you read that you’re supposed to spend a night on a river boat, enjoy the views, have an onsite coffee shop, and the ability to rent bicycles, you assume you’re staying somewhere nice. Mentioning an electric kettle and a flat‑screen TV makes you think you’ll have electricity… but in reality, you only have a phone charging socket and twisted lights that work if you use a car battery. The other sockets don’t work unless you force the heavy boat generator, fill it with petrol, and turn it on. I couldn’t lift the generator for health reasons, so the owner put it outside and fueled it; it lasted about an hour before the fuel ran out and then there was no electricity. I was told the gas stove heats the boat, and there’s a small heater that could be plugged in if needed, but I had no electricity to use it. The flat‑screen TV wasn’t on a base or attached to a surface, so you had to position it yourself; I only watched it for 30 minutes because I had no power. The boat’s surface was clean until I opened a drawer and found it full of rubbish, and the fridge wasn’t clean either. The bed was uncomfortable, so I had to lie on the duvet to make it more comfortable. There was no working shower; it’s just a bag you fill up and use when camping. To use the shower you must remove the toilet into the cabin because there’s no room to leave it there if you need to shower. I was booked for 7 days but only lasted 12 hours. I couldn’t stay somewhere that matched what was advertised. When I arrived I was exhausted and just needed to rest, or I would have left then. I had to find different accommodation in Leicester and asked if I could be refunded because the accommodation wasn’t what was advertised.

I was thrilled by the calm atmosphere, which let me sleep soundly, and the spot was spot-on for work, with friendly locals nearby.
