“Take note of the 'Ratings' before booking.”
It was close to Leeds Castle—that’s about it. On arrival, reception told me breakfast wasn’t included (I thought it was), and they kept repeating that mistake. I paid, found my booking confirmation that said breakfast was included, and was told reception always makes mistakes like this. I never experienced it before. I received two drinks vouchers instead of a refund, feeling like I’d stepped back into the 80s/90s. The bar couldn’t make proper cocktails (no limes). The bedroom TV had a black line down the middle. The bath used a shower curtain that folded around me when the shower was on, making it hard to use—shower curtains in hotels should have been replaced long ago, especially for hygiene. There was a huge gap under the main door letting light stream through, which wouldn’t stop fire or smoke from entering or exiting. An eerie wind came through the bathroom vent. It was noisy when other residents left their rooms and doors slammed shut. I don’t think maintenance checks rooms. Most rooms aren’t near the lift, so if you have mobility issues or bags it’s a long walk to the room. Breakfast, like the evening meal, was average at best. The rating was “pleasant with a 6.9 rating.” I’ll pay more attention to these ratings in the future.
