“Non è un hotel a 5 stelle.”

Great view of the golf course and Mount Asama; the concierge near the station lets you leave luggage and walk to the outlet while waiting for the shuttle or train. This is not a 5‑star hotel; it has no services beyond a shuttle to the station/shopping center and a self‑serve indoor bar. The gym has almost no weights—its only real service on site. The Booking page clearly advertises a spa inside the property, but the two spas are only in the Prince East/West hotels, 5–10 minutes by shuttle. There’s no outdoor common area. The bathroom in our room was old and damaged (just a tub with a curtain), definitely not 5‑star quality. When we arrived, they asked if we wanted the room cleaned daily, something you wouldn’t expect at a 5‑star hotel. All this while paying €400 a night in a small town with few activities besides the outlet near the station.

The surroundings are beautiful, the lobby feels very upscale and the rooms are spacious, and from 10 am to 8 pm the first‑floor lounge offers unlimited drinks, wine, champagne and snacks; on the downside the hotel has no on‑site hot springs (nothing mentioned in reviews or blogs), so you have to take a shuttle to two other buildings to bathe, which is inconvenient, and after asking about a washing machine they said one existed but then told me it was only at the West wing and I couldn’t locate it near the spa.

“We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. Highly recommended”

The location and staff are very accommodating; they have a smile right beside the train station and can transport your things when you arrive at the hotel and on your way back. The only thing I dislike is the soft pillows.

The atmosphere is quiet and has a prestigious feel, yet getting to the other restaurant and the large public bath takes a bit of walking and the rooms could be a little larger.

Thanks to using the group’s full range of services the stay felt especially comfortable and the on‑site hot‑spring facilities were incredibly pleasant; the only drawback was the climate control, which was switching between heating and cooling at the wrong times, leaving the room chilly in the mornings and evenings.
