We spent a great week in a roomy holiday house that really had character. It was perfect for a group of adults and the owner was friendly. The big garden bathed in sunshine and the quiet setting were a bonus, and everything we needed – a supermarket, a restaurant, a terrace and even Flemish fries – was just a short walk away.

We were there with 4 adults and 2 kids, but we left after one night. The house looked good at first, but the bathrooms were filthy, with yellow‑brown grime and dirty toilet seats. We even found a used medical needle in the attic, and the garden was overgrown and the furniture was dirty. The owner promised a cleaner the next day, but we decided to leave and asked for a refund, which he offered to reschedule instead – not what we wanted.

We stayed in a gorgeous 19th‑century house that felt special and had plenty of space. The garden was laid out naturally with loungers and seating, and the hosts were incredibly friendly, giving us great local tips.
