The staff were all very kind. The noise from outside the room and from other rooms echoed quite a bit.

The hotel is large with spacious rooms, a bit old-fashioned (central AC, for example) but that hardly matters. Service is what you'd expect from a good hotel. It’s close to Huai Khwang MRT Station (Exit 3); the blue line (+BTS) gets you easily to all the interesting spots in central Bangkok, and you can also grab a ride. A small 7/11 is nearby. The Huai Khwang Night Market is nice and stays open late, and you’ll find izakaya restaurants around. Very enjoyable. The fitness center and pool are in a building across the street. We were short on time, so the one time we could have gone for a swim I didn’t feel like crossing the street with my stuff. I would have used the gym if it were in the same building, but after a workout I just want to walk back to my room. That’s why I give it a 7 instead of an 8. Minor things: the TV is old-fashioned; I was used to modern TVs with apps, but this one only had a TV and it was poorly tuned. I don’t usually watch TV on vacation, but still. The wooden floor didn’t fit well (big gaps), and the shower needed descaling. You can shower, but if you descaled the shower head you’d have a much better experience.
