The place had good gas heating and a barbecue spot right next to public transport and shops. The keypad entry kept our cars safe and the rooms were huge. Kids had loads of activities and the pool was close by, though we did see a few possums. The knives were a touch dull, the manual was old‑fashioned, and there were no scissors in the kitchen.

The accommodation lived up to expectations, though we were only in town for a short family wedding and didn’t get a chance to use the facilities or chat much with the staff. The spot by the river was lovely, and I had a nice conversation with Fay, who takes care of the kangaroos and the reserve with help from WIRES and Landcare. It was great to see hands‑on conservation work happening.

Everyone in our group loved the stay. The granddaughters had a blast making friends and ringing in the New Year together. The only downside was that there was no air‑conditioner in the bedroom.
