I found the Carnation Residence in a spot that was easy to get to, but otherwise there wasn’t much to like. The room was spacious, the bathroom was decent, and there was a kettle and some dried coffee. The TV only had Thai channels, which were useless to me because I don’t speak Thai, and there were no English options. The mattress felt a bit hard and the old air‑con was really loud. It’s fine for a single night, but not for a holiday.

The laundry was done perfectly and on time, and the reception staff were very friendly. The breakfast, however, was the worst ever – after the first bite I didn’t bother to try it again. There was a complete lack of dairy products, only toast was available, and it was old and dry. The coffee came with a packet of Coffee Mate powder, and I couldn’t even eat the sausage – better to grab something from 7‑11 and eat it in the room.

The room was clean, the service staff were very nice and cleaned every day. I would come back! The location isn’t really suitable for tourists, but we could get to the city cheaply and relatively quickly with Bolt and Grab. The bathtub was leaking, but that wasn’t a big deal.

My stay had its ups and downs - the breakfast was a highlight, but the bathroom's tile grout work was subpar and desperately needed a redo. Despite everything functioning properly and the bathroom not being dirty, the grout job was a letdown. Overall, it was an average experience.
