I was happy to find the hotel close to Mumbai International Airport, but the room was a nightmare – cockroaches swarmed the bed and walls, and the bathroom was filthy with no upkeep at all.

The staff were terrible; nobody would let you move your belongings in or out, and there was no fixed rate – every guest had to haggle like at a fish market, with prices ranging from 2000 to 3500 depending on who you were and when you booked. Cheating on rates and unhelpful staff made the experience awful.
