“Budget accommodation with friendly staff. .”
We stayed in Room 3 on the second floor, the Attic bath/room, which was roomy and had a great view from the roof windows. Room 2 on the first floor was also a decent size and offered a view across the street to other houses in the village, plus both rooms had a view of St Andrews Church bell tower that chimed the time. Mid‑week, so they gave us a continental breakfast; the croissant and pain au chocolat pastries were tasty, and the barista’s coffees were good too. Parking was £3.30 nearby, or you could park on the neighbouring streets if you find a spot. The pub next door, The Kingfisher, was great for dinner, and the owners and the breakfast staff were friendly. On the downside, there were no clear steps for check‑in, the stairs to the rooms were very steep, and there was a smell that might have been urine when we arrived. Furniture was piled in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs, and only one croissant was offered for breakfast. Room 2 felt a bit depressing; more wall décor would lift the colour. The St Andrews bell tower chimed all night, so if you’re a light sleeper you might want ear plugs.
