We were greeted warmly by the hosts, and the hand‑built interior was stylish with a cozy log burner and beautiful views of Lake Tarawera. A few small lights along the stairways to the accommodation would have made it even better.

“DO NOT STAY THERE”

The view was decent, but the place was completely run down, the driveway was overgrown and parking nearly impossible. The stairs to the unit were poorly maintained, lacked night lighting, and felt unsafe—definitely not suitable for elderly or children. The unit itself was dirty and the facilities didn’t match what was advertised. I booked for 2 nights but only stayed 1.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The sunsets were incredible. I would definitely stay there again”

The view was spectacular, the location great, and the steps up were easier than expected. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable there and liked the design and layout of the “nest.” The driveway up from the road was steep and a bit tight; it was wide enough for an SUV but a smaller car would have been better, and it was hard to spot from the main road.
