The lodge felt very relaxing and charming, with a beautiful mountain view. We savored authentic, tasty Japanese meals prepared by the owners’ son, who was genuinely hospitable, and we felt completely taken care of.

The price‑to‑quality ratio was amazing, and it’s the only fully Japanese‑run and owned accommodation in Madarao, as all the Australians around us said. The western breakfast was good, the beds were soft, and the family running the place exemplified Japanese hospitality. The ski lift shuttles and the 20‑minute drive to Iiyama train station—direct shinkansen service 2 hours from Tokyo—were all included, even with all your luggage.

Summary of this review
The guest house is well located in Madarao. The staff were excellent and very hospitable. We had the lift to and from the main ski area each day as needed, but we usually walked because it was so close and easy. A staff member picked us up from and dropped us off at the local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively). The food was good, especially the dinner we had at Maroudo. The onsen was at a pleasant temperature. Highly recommend. The only minor inconvenience was that the toilet/bathroom was not close to our rooms.

朝食はザ和食でとても美味しく、いつも以上に食べてしまった。チェックアウト後もゲレンデの往復の送迎や、お風呂も入浴出来てサービスが最高でした。しかもお風呂場が広くて気持ち良さが倍増。
