“A true traditional feel”
I absolutely loved my stay at Kadensho. The spot was perfect, especially if you want to explore the Arashiyama area, with the bamboo forest and monkeys nearby. What really stood out was how much the hotel embraces traditional Japanese hospitality. You can borrow a yukata for your entire stay, and they provide free tabi socks since shoes aren't worn throughout much of the property. The onsen experience was incredible. There are five private baths, plus separate men’s and women’s public onsens. These are actual Japanese-style onsens, not simply large baths. There’s also an on-site spa and massage service, along with a shop selling beauty products and omiyage (souvenirs). The food was another highlight. Traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner sets are available, and you can add them to your reservation when booking. They also offer fun complimentary experiences throughout the day, including matcha tea making, and there’s even free ramen late at night. Overall, Kadensho gave me exactly the traditional Kyoto experience I was hoping for. If you're visiting Arashiyama and want more than just a place to sleep, I highly recommend staying here.
