Plantation Bay a Real Resort with a Real Spa

“Would not return”

The restaurants served tasty food and I didn’t have to tip. The front‑desk supervisor was very rude at check‑in. Rooms are dated, the air‑conditioner didn’t work well, and the floors were so dirty you had to wash your feet if you walked barefoot. The pools were also filthy, with patches of discoloration, debris, and a dead cockroach floating in one near the bar; the staff managed to fish it out after I reported it. At $430 a night, it’s not worth it and I won’t return. The only redeeming parts were the restaurant staff and the spa, who were very accommodating.

The view from our room was beautiful and relaxing, and the spa was superb with brilliant service; most staff were friendly. Some staff were not welcoming or polite. The food was expensive for what it offered; most items were okay for a five‑star hotel. There was little to do at night, making it boring when it got dark—only one or two restaurants stayed open. We were charged for my son’s breakfast on the second day after the buffet was cancelled for renovation; we had paid for 2 adults and 1 child breakfast, but the credit was only for adults. After arguing with the manager, we were told not to pay again, but the reception still charged us for the child’s breakfast the next day. The receptionist eventually understood and didn’t charge us, but the whole incident was poor service for a five‑star. Despite these hiccups, the resort was lovely, the room and view were great, and we still had a good time.
