Overall I was dissatisfied. I arrived during the National Day holiday and was told the room wasn’t ready, so check‑in was delayed an hour, yet the checkout time stayed the same. The pool was packed with holiday‑goers from Malaysia, which made the water quality poor. Breakfast was chaotic; we were moved to a restaurant near the beach because the main one was full, but the food selection was limited and some items were missing without replacement. The room had ants and hair. The beach was tiny, hardly a beach at all. Sound insulation was bad – we could hear conversations in the corridor and, even with the windows closed, the noise from the lively pool was audible.
The ambience was nice overall, but the room was dusty and the beach was ruined by nearby development.
“Dirty room, No hospiltality, no breakfast included, bad attitude from some pool staff,”
The kids loved the two small slides and the pools, but the room was dirty when we arrived. The bathroom sink was full of pubic hairs and the toilet had stuff in it. The tissue box was an empty broken box with only one piece of tissue, clearly not replaced or cleaned. A mosque next door woke us at 5.30 am. There was excrement all over the floor by the entrance to Adventureland—disgusting. No breakfast was included even though the room was very expensive, and this was our first time at a 5‑star hotel where breakfast isn’t included. I phoned room service three times but got no answer. I wanted tea bags, so I tried to take them from the breakfast buffet, but staff said I couldn’t and that I needed to call room service. I did, but no one answered. No one replied to my emails for days. There were rats by the big chess board (next to bins). Massive groups of big crows descended onto the food areas and tables, ripping open our kids’ bag after we’d wrapped wafers in it. No beach, and we couldn’t swim because of jellyfish. The guy at the towel place gave me attitude when I went to get a towel. Adventureland was excruciatingly busy during their fun day, and the queues were outside the door. A staff member from the restaurant came out of the toilet without washing hands. We’ve stayed at 5‑star hotels before, and this didn’t have the service and hospitality of a 5‑star hotel.
Checked in at 3.30 pm but couldn’t access the room until 8.50 pm, and the staff didn’t properly apologize or do anything about it. The toilet leaked water onto the floor that never dried, and the overall service was poor even for a hotel that’s been around for more than 40 years.
Everything was excellent: the staff were friendly and all services felt 5‑star. The room was great, breakfast was great, and the facilities were clean and well maintained.
