The small cabins were sweet and just the right size, the bed was comfortable and the air‑conditioning worked well; the outdoor area with loungers was a plus, and the kitchen was adequate for simple meals, though not heavily equipped, and the Wi‑Fi worked. I was disappointed by the staff’s limited English, which felt somewhat unfriendly even though that wasn’t their intention; I had to cut my stay short because my partner was hospitalized and I wanted to stay closer to him, and I didn’t feel the staff showed any empathy for my situation, yet I still paid the full price. Afterwards someone refunded me part of the money; overall it was okay, the kitchen was a highlight for me, but I’ve had far friendlier hosts in Sri Lanka.

The building looks nice from the outside and the grounds are fine, but there was no hot water at all, and when we asked it was confirmed that none was available; the room had no Wi‑Fi, the sheet had yellow stains, and there was no mosquito net even though insects were present. The reception was very awkward: we received the key without explanation, eye contact, or a friendly greeting, and we got no information about Wi‑Fi, breakfast, or the kitchen. The path to the property was very dark and unpleasant at night, and next to the accommodation is a mosque whose call to prayer can be heard loudly several times a day, including around 04:30 am.

“Excelent”

It’s a lovely, quiet, and peaceful place if that’s what you’re after; it has everything you need—air conditioning, a good shower, and lockers to keep your belongings safe. The administrator, Sabeer, is incredibly kind, helpful, and caring, making you feel welcomed and always ready to assist. The breakfast is delicious, and I appreciated that you can have it whenever you want, which is great if you’re not an early riser. It offers great value for money and I would definitely recommend staying here! Occasionally you might spot elephants passing by or little monkeys stopping in, which adds a special touch. 🐘🐒

“Un séjour au calme d’Arygam Bay”

A quiet spot in the city, yet just beside the beach and the main street. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. Thanks a lot to Sabee for her kindness, daily attention, and great tips! If you’re lucky and stay alert, you might even spot an elephant wandering near the accommodation.

“Ubicación y tranquilidad super!!”

The lodge’s calmness and location make you feel at home, far from the noise of Arugambay’s main street. I’m not a fan of two things: the breakfast could use improvement, and the power cuts happen every now and then, plus some staff don’t know any English.
