“Absolument exceptionnel, c'était le meilleur moment de notre voyage !”

This accommodation is perfect! The room was very good, clean, the shower is very large, and the mosquito net on the bed is very practical. You feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe. The lodging is ideally located just a few meters from the beach, on a quiet, almost pedestrian street, easy to access and close to the small city center of Tangalle (shops, supermarket…) and bars/restaurants. It’s very nice for strolling day and night. Tangalle is a true haven of peace in Sri Lanka. The hosts, Harshee and Tharu, were a real hit for me and my partner Loïc. We’d love to return soon. They are attentive, smiling, friendly, and speak English very well. The meals and breakfasts were all excellent, homemade and healthy; Harshee masters traditional Sri Lankan recipes and cooks with passion. Harshee also offers cooking classes that are fantastic, generous, and useful—check out Cook With Harshee! There are also plenty of things and activities to do and see around Tangalle, on foot, by bike or scooter. With Tharu you can book excursions directly at Siesta; he takes care of everything! This stay at Siesta was the best part of our trip to Sri Lanka, allowing us to recharge and meet wonderful people. I recommend it 100 %.

I’m writing this review only after leaving the country because I felt threatened during my stay. We arrived together on a whim and asked if a room was available and what the price per night would be. The quoted price was significantly higher than the one on the site and did not include breakfast. Since the booking price was cheaper (including breakfast), we booked on the spot. From that moment the situation escalated completely. The owner said he would not give us the room at that price and aggressively demanded that we cancel the booking immediately. He threatened to call the police and accuse us of trespassing on his property or to pursue us if we didn’t cancel right away or leave a bad review. He said he didn’t want to cancel on his own and that it wasn’t about money. He also claimed he would soon change the name of the accommodation on Google, so reviews didn’t matter to him. The worst part: he wouldn’t let us leave until the cancellation confirmation appeared on his phone. After over a year of traveling, we can say we’ve never experienced such behaviour. We felt seriously threatened. I strongly advise against staying here.

“A diamant in Tangalle”

Tharu and Harshee are the best hosts I've met in Sri Lanka; they welcomed us like friends and made our stay unforgettable. Tharu's deep tissue massage was incredibly relaxing and reasonably priced, while Harshee's cooking class was spot on— we learned a lot about food, culture, and spices and had a great time cooking and eating. If you’re in town and want honest, friendly hosts, head to Siesta!
