The owners are very friendly and engaging, and we appreciated the top sheet and the simple homemade breakfast; the community work being done is truly remarkable. However, the directional signage and curb appeal could use some improvement.

Good day. We never actually stayed there. Unfortunately something went wrong somewhere and we couldn’t figure it out; normally we receive a confirmation number when we book but we couldn’t find it. Also the hosts of all booking places usually send us messages with the location and contact numbers, but that didn’t happen either, so we thought the booking hadn’t gone through. We then booked another place on short notice and paid for that as well, so we were not staying at Harry’s Place at all. If you can help us with this, we would appreciate it, as the host said she would not pitch the night we had to book; she only phoned us when it became late. She really tried to help and it’s sad that things went wrong. She also received the payment for our stay, which did not happen. We normally book only through [email protected] and we are very satisfied. We do not want to use any other. Kind regards.

Interesting guesthouse on the way to South Africa, but very simple. The hosts were friendly; the hostwoman cooks for all guests, everyone sits at one table for meals—this encourages conversation with other guests, which we found interesting. However, the dinner and breakfast were very Spartan and did not match the price‑performance ratio; in the evening there was a vegetable stew—everyone got only a small portion, with no starter or dessert. For breakfast there was a half toasted bagel with scrambled eggs and bacon for each person, or cereals as an alternative.
