The beautiful old building was sympathetically converted for modern living, though some details could have used more attention.

The breakfast offered a simple continental spread of strawberries, croissants, and jams—fresh and neatly covered in the room. There was nothing to criticize.

We were thoroughly impressed by the Queen's Head in Hawkedon. The local community clearly loves it, and the relaxed atmosphere hits you right away, with people lounging on the front and back chairs and unwinding over evening drinks after a hectic week. The pub boasts a great selection of ciders and ales, and its interior feels spacious and beautiful, with wooden furniture, structural details, and eye‑catching touches throughout. We reserved a table for Friday night (the restaurant opens on Thursday and Friday) and the food was outstanding; large portions and every dish was delicious—from the creative salad to the perfectly cooked juicy pork and the mouth‑watering spicy beef pizza that offered a veritable smorgasbord of flavors. We’ll definitely return just for the food! The front‑of‑house and serving staff were all excellent—cheerful, confident, welcoming, attentive, and skilled at their jobs. The deluxe apartment upstairs is stunning; it looks even more beautiful in person than in the photos, with a vaulted ceiling that makes it feel huge, light, and airy. We loved the colors, the comfortable sofa, futon, and bed, the lovely wooden kitchen table, the quirky porthole mirrors in the bathroom, and the freestanding bath. The abundance of floor sockets was very handy given all the devices we brought, and they went the extra mile by leaving us fresh bread, oats, nectarines, jams, scones, croissants, strawberries, yogurts, and milk for breakfast. We were fortunate to receive a late checkout on Sunday, which was amazing. This place has a special vibe that will stay with us for a long time—thank you so much. The only downside was that we wish we could have stayed longer.

A quintessential Olde Worlde Pub in the English countryside—beautiful.

We received a very warm welcome and the host was very accommodating. The apartment was lovely and spacious, with a fantastic view from the bedroom and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was roomy with a great shower. There was plenty of food and a good variety for breakfast. The pub was charming, a very traditional local establishment. Parking was available, but the pub was very busy and we were lucky on both days to actually park in the carpark, as there was no dedicated parking for the two apartments.
