Allstay Ecotel Yogyakarta, Sleman, blends modern comfort with local charm. Air‑conditioned rooms feature private baths, tea/coffee makers, work desks, TVs, and soundproofing. The on‑site restaurant offers Indonesian and Asian dishes, while a spa, fitness center, and swimming pool provide wellness options. The only thing I liked about the property was the friendly staff. I was misled by the name Ecotel into thinking the hotel would be especially or noticeably “green” and eco‑conscious, but it wasn’t. The building was unappealing, with filthy carpets, dirty windows, cracked paint, mold in the bathrooms, broken drains in the showers, a poor dinner selection, and an even worse breakfast. I paid for two nights and left after one. As a traveling photojournalist who has stayed in more than 3000 hotels in 160 countries, this place was not terrible, but its current poor conditions make me not recommend it. There are many better hotels with good rates nearby and throughout Yogyakarta—pick another one.

The staff were friendly, which I appreciated, but the toilet and shower were inconvenient.
