The bed was small, the room was small and hot, and the pillows were very uncomfortable.

From check‑in to check‑out everything was superb; the staff went above and beyond and the little extras—like a welcome drink on arrival, another after dinner, a note in the room, and treats at reception—made a big difference. The only downside was that my wife prefers Bacardi, so we had to look elsewhere for that.

The setting is very pretty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I left on a Sunday when taxis were hard to find, so the manager personally drove me to Polegate Station for my return to London—a 40‑minute drive through country roads—and she didn’t charge me. That generous and kind gesture was unforgettable.
