The nature and location were great. We had to bring our own bath towels, and the reception was mostly closed. As a tourist in cold weather I expected a variety of teas, but only black or rooibos was offered, which was disappointing.

The suites were very nice, with roof windows that let you watch the arctic lights. (The hotel isn’t responsible for clouds or nights without the lights, though.)

The suite’s décor was stylish, clean and tidy, and the glass ceiling was lovely, but the biggest drawback was the beds: the listing promised a “luxury” “king‑size” setup with high‑quality linens, yet we got two single beds that were terrible to sleep on—one side would wobble and feel like it might collapse, making for a very uncomfortable night; we’ve never experienced such poor beds on any trip, and even if we’d guessed this when booking, we’d have chosen something else. Breakfast was rather sparse but sufficient to curb hunger, and the eggs, meatballs and cucumber served in the mornings were cold and the cucumbers seemed dried out from the previous day.
