We spent one night at Ella Sky Cabanas, about 12 km outside town. That distance didn’t bother us; we wanted a quiet place to unwind. The scenery was stunning, the cabin itself was tidy and exactly what we were looking for—a forest lodge. The owner couple were friendly and helpful. Dinner was tasty and inexpensive. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re after peace away from city noise. The only downside was the short climb to the cabin, which isn’t ideal for people with mobility issues.

“Amazing view and serene surrounds! Beautiful family.”

The view is breathtaking, close to swimming holes and waterfalls. Tharaka and his family are lovely—we even spent time with them and their kids, learning Sinhala and eating amazing homemade food! If you want something a bit more remote, peaceful, beautiful, and authentic, this is the spot. Just remember a mosquito net is supplied; bring repellent just in case.

“Very nice!!”

The host family was incredibly friendly, warm‑hearted and welcoming. The place sits a little outside Ella, about a 15‑minute tuk‑tuk ride (around 2,500 rupees), but it’s worth it. The room was beautiful, with a lovely terrace and an amazing view over the green hills. Every morning the hosts delivered a delicious breakfast right to the terrace, making the stay even more special. I’d also highly recommend trying dinner in the hosts’ living room – the best rice and curry we ever had! Thank you for the wonderful stay and amazing hospitality; we really enjoyed our time here.

Le séjour a été incroyable du début à la fin ! L'accueil, la nourriture, le service, la cabane, la vue. La nourriture (dîner et petit déjeuner) étaient succulents et copieux. La vue de la cabane est impressionnante et le confort est au rendez-vous. Je recommande à 100% !!
