Sugar was a helpful, friendly, and accommodating host. The room was clean and the walk‑in shower was good. Nearby there’s a small market and nice Nubian restaurants. He arranged a fantastic felucca ride and a visit to Philae. Breakfast was good and the view of the Nile was lovely. I highly recommend this place, still untouched by tourists!

Sugar was always concerned and kind; the room was amazingly comfortable, we could rest very well, and the food was very tasty; we would like to come back, the island is beautiful and the hospitality was great!

We stayed 3 days in Assouan with Sugar and we recommend this accommodation! The double room price is more than correct (20€ per night) and includes wifi, fridge, and breakfast; the room is clean and air‑conditioned, though it lacks natural light if the door to the small balcony is closed; there is a shared kitchen and roof access; a major highlight is the island’s calm, especially after a few days in Cairo! Sugar was a very attentive host who organized our excursions to Abu Simbel (30€/person), Philae (13€), and our trip to Luxor with stops at temples along the way; do not hesitate, you will be well received at Sugar!

Sugar, the owner, is devoted to his guests; excursions, breakfast, advice about the island, he organizes everything to make you comfortable; the place takes you out of your usual comfort zone, locals are very friendly, and the small grocery shops are interesting. It feels like a hostel, so you’re with other tourists, and if an excursion is early for some, everyone wakes up; the apartment is at the end of the island, so your luggage can become a hassle on the land; breakfast is repetitive, having more choices or drinks for children would be nice; be careful about excursion prices, we learned the owner didn’t charge the same for everyone; finally we felt obliged to give a 10/10 due to the owner’s insistence, so the rating is skewed, unfortunately. Plan your days because you’ll get bored quickly; don’t forget that entering and leaving the island requires paying the ferry each time, which shouldn’t be overlooked; due to lack of soundproofing, you hear everything at night.
