The place you find yourself in is absolutely extraordinary. You’re hosted by a baron and baroness on their medieval castle. For water, you can go to the spring. A big advantage is the limited phone signal and internet coverage except for the Wi‑Fi room. You can relax really undisturbed and slow down. Nothing. Don’t expect a five‑star hotel, but an authentic Tuscan countryside.

I stayed in an ancient manor that felt truly authentic and fascinating. The apartments were huge, spotless, and came with a dishwasher and a shared washing machine. There was also a game room with a pool table, foosball, and more. The kids loved the pool because they could jump off the diving board and the water was warm. However, there was no Wi‑Fi in the rooms, only in a separate area. The biggest drawback was how hot the rooms got since there was no air‑conditioning. In the evening we couldn’t sit outside because the mosquitoes and flies were swarming, and inside it was still too hot. At night it was hard to sleep; the breeze was weak and the house stayed warm after a scorching day. Overall, the apartments were great, but by the end we wanted to leave because we were exhausted by the heat.
