“Horror,Briesmiigi 🤦♀️”
I was furious—nothing was good. The house looked like a horror movie set, totally unkempt for a long time, and no one was around. My phone didn’t pick up any calls. I didn’t stay at all and didn’t get my money back, so it feels like a scam.
We stayed for one night and loved everything! The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, showing us photos of how it all started and the guests who had come before. The estate was originally built for hunters, the owner is a hunter himself, and the house is full of trophies. They treated us to venison and wild boar meat. The grounds are well cared for, with a barbecue area, a pond, and a pavilion on a hill that offers a view of the surroundings. It’s a gorgeous spot surrounded by nature, forest, fresh air—you can bring a bike and ride around. Maybe next time I’ll stay a few days.
A peaceful oasis for lovers of the sea. The owner, caring, sincere, and attentive, is Meinard—thanks to him and best of luck with your plans. The website could note which path from the current location is more convenient.
“Great fishing in a friends group!!”
We had a blast in Pilskalni with my friends, all focused on fishing, and each of us hit our personal best: three of us landed large pikes and one snagged a huge perch. Host Meinards drove us around the neighboring spots and gave a personal tour. In Pilskalni you also get to see many historic Soviet-era elements.
“On the brink of abandonment. Don't go”
It was the only place available in the area. It has potential but is clearly mismanaged. The staff (if you can call them that) never answered the emails I sent; the place seemed closed, and I was about to leave when I saw a gardener and asked him about my reservation, and he directed me to the owner, who doesn’t speak any English. My bed had no sheet on the mattress and I had to find one myself. The water smells, the room is dirty… It’s also the most expensive “hotel” I’ve stayed in Latvia (90 € per night) and the worst by far.
