The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, the plugs were close to the bed, and the food was excellent—overall a major plus, though the place felt a bit dated, which didn’t bother us much.

Woodhill House, a 17th‑century coastal manor on Wood Road, sits amid manicured gardens and a historic walled garden, just 0.8 km from Donegal’s sea and 0.4 km from Ardara’s center. The family‑run country house offers comfortable rooms, a cozy bar with an open fireplace, a restaurant serving fresh local fare, and a tranquil, traditional Irish welcome.

The hotel has a slightly outdated charm, comfortable rooms, and a "so typical" vintage décor that could use a touch of refreshment; breakfast is very basic for the room rate, but the staff are friendly and the owner has a good sense of humor.

The old‑world charm and helpful staff made breakfast great, and they went out of their way to assist my wife with her immobility, providing a spacious room with easy shower access; the walled garden was intriguing but would benefit from a concerted effort to restore its best appearance, giving the feel of staying with a family; however, the bed was too small, the bedroom needed furnishings updates, and wallpaper was peeling, yet everything else old‑fashioned worked fine.
