The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The house itself was charming, full of character with beams, low ceilings, and wonky walls and floors, and it’s steeped in history having had many different roles over the years. The grounds were beautiful, and the breakfast menu was varied enough to satisfy everyone. There was a nice lounge area featuring an honesty bar and board games. The only minor gripe was that the bar didn’t offer sugar‑free drinks, which mattered to me personally since I don’t drink alcohol and can’t handle fully sugary fizzy drinks.

The scenic surroundings and the building itself are nice, and the breakfast was tasty and well cooked. The staff were helpful and polite. However, if you’re over 5ft 8, you should check with the owners before booking because the ceiling height in our room was a problem. We expected a quirky, lower‑than‑modern home, but there was only about a 5ft square of floor space you could stand in, which made using the room uncomfortable.

The pace of the stay was very quirky, and the breakfast offered plenty of choice. There were many nice touches, including recommendations for places to eat and local facilities. The bar was cozy, pragmatic, honest, and offered cheap prices with good options. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Just be aware that if you have mobility issues or are particularly tall, the wonky floors and low ceilings might be a problem – not a criticism, just an observation because of the age of the building, which is to be expected.
