How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
The staff member who greeted us did her very best. The property sits on the lake in a small complex on the outskirts of town with no internet access and no Grab or Bolt coverage. Our room was up four uneven sets of stairs with no handrail, and the view over the lake was sadly blocked by a balcony cage. Fortunately, a tourist office a few doors up helped us with Wi‑Fi and found an alternate accommodation right in the centre of Phayo, which was truly amazing.

The room I stayed in was lovely, except for the cage on the balcony that ruined the view of the lake and a beautiful sunset. It was the best room I saw; the other one I saw was below average. The bed was spongy, the sheets were cheap, and there was grill mesh on the balcony.

The location is great, close to Waan Phayao and next to restaurants, and it’s quiet. The staff didn’t help much—there was only one person. The accommodation feels like a prison because the front of the building is covered with thick mesh netting, so in a fire you couldn’t escape. I hope the owner will address safety; it’s impossible to get out if there’s a fire, and it feels like a jail. I’ve seen buildings locked up before, and it’s a big concern.

The new room offers an amazing view, a good shower, and an excellent host. It’s a bit out of the centre, but if you want to be right on the water it’s worth it, and you can easily catch a Grab into town.

The location is excellent and quiet, and the sleep was great. The floors were a bit dirty.
