The self‑check‑in system was smooth, the spot was great and the price matched the quality, plus it was quiet. However, the staff never smiled or said hello when you ran into them, even though it’s a self‑check‑in hotel; the cleaning lady still entered my room before I checked out (she should know it’s automatic), and there was no alternative milk (soy, almond, etc.) at breakfast, which is a basic expectation now.

The family room was huge, well equipped, simple and nicely decorated. The hotel was very quiet, close to Kriens Matterhof station, so getting to Lucerne was easy. Unfortunately, it sits on a main road, so you can hear traffic a bit (still tolerable). There’s no one at the front desk and check‑in/check‑out is done online or on a tablet at the entrance; it’s a bit odd not to have anyone there, but it does make the process quick.

With the Luzern guest card you get free bus rides for the stay, letting you reach the city centre in just 10 minutes. The reception isn’t staffed; you can do online check‑in easily, but it would be helpful to reach someone directly if you have questions—especially since the website keeps pointing to the reception. The breakfast buffet offers only the basics, and the bathroom sliding door doesn’t close properly.

The room was very nice, clean and spacious. A fridge was missing, but luckily there was one on the hallway that I could use. Parking spots were sometimes tight and the courtyard wasn’t lit, making it hard to find your way in the dark with a suitcase. Breakfast was too late for me, and the hallway coffee machine had no cups.
