The room was beautiful and very comfortable, and the spa was excellent. The breakfast and evening meal were disappointing, and the service was terrible given how few people were in the restaurant. A bit of staff training could transform this hotel. The buffet breakfast did not match the price paid, service was lacking, and it took 25 minutes for my pudding to be served.

“we re-book every year so it must have more Pluses than minuses”

The location is really good for us and very peaceful. The rooms are being spruced up, which is nice, and the shower was welcoming after a long day at work. It’s an ongoing labour of love in an old building, and every year something needs fixing; it feels like new owners come each year but they’re finally upgrading things. Our only real gripe is that hospitality overall needs to use agency staff, and even though they’re polite, someone should keep an eye on them. The spa had a few things not working again, whereas last year it was different things not working.

“Excellent stay. Great staff.”

The place is ideally located for the Bath show ground and easy to find. The rooms are comfortable, and the staff are amazing, helpful, and welcoming. A special thanks to the new waiter who really knew the menu and helped with my allergy – a real treasure. The grounds need some maintenance; a couple of trees near the conservatory should be removed.

“Good location for what we needed but will not return”

The location is fine. The bed was really uncomfortable – the mattress was too hard and the pillows too soft, as if there was a rubber sheet over the mattress. The place looked tired with leaky taps and mould around the sinks, and it generally needs a refresh.
