Located within a tropical rainforest in Sandakan, Sabah, Sepilok Jungle Resort is a 5-minute walk from the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. The resort features air-conditioned rooms with wooden interiors, private bathrooms, and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel sits right next to the Sun Bears and Orangutan Centre, and a quick Grab ride takes you to the RDC. The pool is large, but there was no air‑conditioning, so it felt very hot; I’d recommend having an AC unit if possible. The pool also needed a thorough clean.

The location beside the orangutan sanctuary is ideal, and the pool and overall setting are great. The property is built around a lake in the jungle, and the room and balcony are spacious with a comfortable bed. We would definitely recommend it and would return. Breakfast was poor, but adequate; we had enough to eat. I stayed here 9 years ago, and the breakfast was still poor.

Location near the sunbear sanctuary and orangutang rehabilitation center. Rooms are not like in the pictures. Older, not super clean, with smell of humidity. Water did not work for the whole afternoon without any warning. When we first spoke in the reception, they tried to say it was our fault. When water did work at end of afternoon it came out brown. Both days this happened without any explanation or warning from the staff. For the price paid, we expected a cleaner space
