The hotel was close to the highway, and the breakfast buffet was very organized. There was no staff to restock items, so there was no jam or cream cheese for the toast, only butter. The gravy also looked unappetizing in the pot.

What I liked most was how clean the room was; everything smelled fresh. The pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. They also had a small fridge, a microwave, and a little coffee maker with all the essentials.

“There was a 1 inch space under the door that let in spiders, bugs and snakes into our room 108!”

The waffle was good, but I had to ask for butter. There was a very limited selection: no juice, no eggs, no bacon, the biscuits were hard as a rock, and the gravy was overloaded with sausage.

The spot is right off the highway, making it a breeze to hop in and out in the morning, and a gas station sits across the street so you can refuel before heading back out. A Mexican joint next door serves decent food and is just a short stroll away, which is ideal for a stopover on a long haul. The bed feels comfortable and the towels are spotless. On the downside, the room’s AC is infested with mold—once you switch it on (which you have to in Texas during September), the whole room gets saturated with it. I’d recommend cleaning the HVAC unit and running it on fan when the room isn’t in use, but that’s not the only roadside inn with this issue. My partner and I’re both mold‑allergic, so we take Zyrtec before bed and Flonase in the morning; you’ll be blowing your nose for about an hour after waking up and getting back on the road, but otherwise you’ll be fine. Just come prepared.
