The inn is divine—an absolute charm! The whole place is being lovingly built by Mr. Petrônio, preserving Baependi’s story, and I was privileged to experience it up close. Mr. Petrônio himself is pure history; every minute spent talking with him is worth it. He shares regional tales, personal anecdotes, travel tips, restaurant recommendations, and engaging conversations that leave you feeling delighted. The décor throughout is flawless, rooms are cozy, comfortable, with excellent mattresses and a fantastic layout. A warm, relaxing shower caps off the day’s excursions. The setting is very quiet. Breakfast is a spectacle: cheese bread and cakes baked on the farm by Fernanda (delicious!), coffee to fuel chats with other guests and Mr. Petrônio, preserves, honey, butter, and mountain cheese—an absolute feast! Staying at Pousada Condado de Santa Maria feels like contributing to history while enjoying comfort and coziness.
