Hotel Hermitage

The location is beautiful and the whole property is very well kept. The food is excellent, though not very cheap. Breakfast leaves no wishes unfulfilled, the selection is huge. Unfortunately the bread did not meet our expectations, which is a high-level complaint. For a 5‑star hotel, the reception was absolutely disappointing. No warmth, no explanations, just sign‑here and go. No welcome drink or anything nice. It would have been so simple and looks much better. The room is large and a bit older. We missed a coffee machine or at least a kettle. That is already standard in 4‑star hotels today. What really annoyed us were the drink prices at the pool: 18 € for an Aperol Spritz, 6 € for a 330 ml Cola and 6 € for a 180 ml Lemon Soda. It’s unacceptable. With no alternatives, you just have to pay.

Fantastic location, exceptional position. Small customer‑oriented touches were missing that you expect from a property of this caliber. I found a visibly stained pillowcase, no beard products, no coffee machine even though the bar is far from most rooms, and the cleaning before the rooms left the laundry bags and empty water boxes in plain view all day. I usually don’t leave reviews, but for a highly regarded property I never expected this.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Hermitage. The setting is beautiful, but what stood out most was the service. The concierge and front desk were excellent, and the staff throughout the hotel were friendly, attentive and hardworking. There are tennis courts, several pools and a private beach, with food and drink service throughout the day. Beach service was always quick and efficient, and the snacks and light meals were very good. Breakfast offers a wide selection and is one of the highlights of the hotel. For dinner, there are two options: a more casual restaurant with a good choice of dishes, and the main restaurant, which is definitely worth trying. The dessert buffet is particularly impressive, as is the generous selection of cheeses to enjoy with wine after dinner. We stayed in the main building in a sea and bay-view room and were very happy with our choice. A great place to stay on Elba, especially if you enjoy good food, a beautiful beach and attentive service. We would happily return

The location and staff were excellent, but the rooms need to be renewed.
