The location and the kitchen and living room were great. The bathroom was a problem – the shower doors barely close, and I had already found them only moderately satisfactory when I stayed in March. The building lobby wasn’t very clean, with trash and huge cockroaches.

The place itself was good. The rooms were very cramped.

As a solo traveller on a budget, I was used to some imperfections and found that the place met most of my needs. It’s close to a large supermarket and cooking was seamless, though a griddle for meat would have been nice if I were picky. Only one other guest didn’t use the kitchen. The house is a short walk from the bus stop and the coastal strip. The shower was reliably hot and the coffee machine was a nice addition, even though it wasn’t in the bedroom. The power socket in the room wouldn’t accept my Spanish‑style modern plug, so I had to buy a separate adapter; I noticed that other rooms worked fine, but that was useless if I wanted to charge my phone in a shared house. The room felt a little dusty and aged, which triggered an asthmatic reaction on arrival, whereas the other rooms had better air quality. A neighbour played music late into the night on some evenings, so if you go to bed early or want quiet you should consider this. A bin in the bedroom and spare bags with instructions on where to dispose of waste would have been nice, but it didn’t ruin my holiday.

The bathroom services and lighting in the living‑room‑kitchen area were lacking.
