Located in Windhoek, Namibia, Düsternbrook Guest Farm is the oldest guest farm in the country. This charming colonial farmhouse features a panoramic-terrace overlooking a dry river bed, an outdoor pool, bar, and traditional lapa area. Individually decorated rooms offer private bathrooms, power outlets, and terraces, while luxury tents and rustic chalets provide additional accommodation options.

The location is wonderful, with clear directions both to the hotel and on site. The atmosphere is very personal and special. The breakfast was superb. The mattress is too firm for my back, but that’s a matter of personal preference.

We really enjoyed our stay at Duesternbrook Guestfarm. We stayed in the Dama House, which is simple and functional, offering plenty of space and quiet. The staff were attentive and friendly. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. There are lovely hiking options. Highly recommended.

The only good thing was the riverside and mountain setting; everything else felt impersonal, unfriendly, and very dated, with rooms that looked old‑fashioned. Charles was 5 km away from the lodge, and the place is only suitable for adventurers.

We stayed at the Hippo Chalet, a gorgeous spot right on the lake surrounded by hippos and a lot of birds – truly dreamy. The house’s furnishings were a bit simpler than those in the Mainhouse, yet we loved the quiet, the location, and the unique idyll. The guest farm itself was great, full of animals, excellent food, and very friendly staff, so I highly recommend it!
