Rosemary is just an excellent host! Very warm and friendly from the get‑go. Lots of tips about local areas to explore and kindly shared her home with us, so we had access to the kitchen and washing machine (small extra charge). Off‑street parking was great. Nothing else.

Great location overlooking the river ESK Valley. Nothing at all.

You rarely find a reading room in an attic overlooking pastureland or a conservatory where you can bring your coffee; so many extras beyond a simple room. The road outside is busy and can be risky when reversing onto it; I arrived in gloomy weather with heavy traffic and struggled to spot the correct spot.

Breakfast was simple yet varied with plenty of options, and the views across the hills were fantastic; Rosemary kindly gave us snacks for lunch while we were walking that day. The missed messages and confusion about entering the property—expecting a person instead of a key box—were quickly sorted out.

The welcome was warm and the garden very beautiful, opening onto the countryside around Whitby. The host’s kindness and parking advice were appreciated. Overall the room was clean, but the shower drain was poorly cleaned (bandages and hair on it), obstructing the drainage.
