Yoshi was the consummate host, generous with his help and suggestions for things to do and places to eat nearby. The spot is very close to the Cuddly Dominion bus stop but about a 15 minute walk to the station; however Yoshi offers bicycles to borrow, which made getting around a lot easier.

I stayed in Aso for 4 nights and it was fantastic. I definitely recommend staying at Asobi Gokoro. The host Yoshi is very kind, and at the evening bonfire he gives you recommendations for the next day's activities. At night you can hear countryside insects and walk between fields to stargaze or see the distant volcano. A magical place! The accommodation itself was great as well.
