The location was nice and the pub itself felt cosy with a good restaurant. The room I stayed in sat above the main bar and had a speaker directly under my floor. After a long day of travel and meetings, I wanted to unwind in peace, yet I was hit by the constant bass thump from the speaker below, which the staff refused or could not turn down. I requested a quieter room, but the hotel was full, so they only offered a pair of ear plugs to muffle the noise. Later that evening, the bar’s louder noise persisted until about 10 pm, by which time I was exhausted. While the pub and restaurant were pleasant, be warned that the rooms are above the bar. I cancelled my second night because of the noise. The breakfast was nice, but the B&B options were limited to full English or continental; anything else required an extra charge.

What an amazing place. The attention to detail was stunningly thoughtful. The food was delicious, the sleep peaceful, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. We loved it! Nothing to add.

The bed was comfortable and the room lovely, and the staff were excellent.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the evening meal was excellent, but the room was very dusty on every surface and soft furnishing, especially the bedside lights and headboard; the bathroom had worn fittings, no storage, and the shower in the bath was difficult to use, making it expensive for what it offered.
