“A good start ruined by the host's lack of transparency about transfer fees, which border on a scam”

We had good communication with the host before the trip, but the cleaning was unacceptable. The low lodging price feels like bait that forces guests to pay high transportation costs: Ende Airport → Andy's Lodge IDR 600k, Andy’s Lodge → Kelimutu IDR 400k, Andy’s Lodge → Maumere IDR 1,000k. On the way back from Maumere to Ende Airport we found a private transport for IDR 400k instead of the usual IDR 1,600k. We also wanted to stop at Koka Beach, but the driver—who is a friend of the host—told us we’d have to pay IDR 100k each to enter, a fee the locals have taken over. The whole system feels well-oiled yet dishonest.

“Had beter gekund”

The staff are friendly; Andy is a very nice guy who will arrange everything for you and also plays music in a nearby café/restaurant—great view. The toilet bowl leaks, making the area around the toilet wet. The slippers were fine, but the mattress was in bad condition (dirty and covered with a very thin sheet), so we slept in our mattress bag. The accommodation needs some maintenance (e.g., one room’s lock was broken so a combination lock and hook were used, the mentioned toilet, a bit of paint here and there). It’s budget lodging, so don’t expect high-end facilities, but if the mattress, sheets, fresh blankets, and necessary repairs were updated, the stay would feel more comfortable.

“Bien pour une ou deux nuits pour explorer les alentours”

Comfortable and warm welcome. The door closure was a bit complicated with a small padlock that could be repaired.
