I stayed in a hotel that’s not great – it’s right next to the Jabal Omar row of properties, mostly used by Malaysian residents. The room was okay but cramped for four people. The lifts and corridors looked old and in need of a serious overhaul, and the air‑conditioning barely worked. The front desk staff were not very helpful and couldn’t even use the card machine properly.

I arrived and couldn’t find my reservation; the reception didn’t compensate me even after I offered to pay. I called their automated service but it was useless, which was really disappointing. I lost a lot of time with my kids waiting on the road.
