How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
Quiet, plenty of parking, and the staff were friendly. Cleaning seemed substandard: the room appeared cleaned—bed made—but there were dust layers on the door, window, and skirting, discoloration on the walls, and unpainted repairs. Looking out over the garden, rubbish and single‑use cups lay on the lawn for all three nights. It just felt tired and neglected.

I’ve stayed at St Andrews twice before and it’s always been great, even with the new management this time. The staff were friendly and professional, check‑in was quick, the room was warm and comfortable, and breakfast was fantastic. The breakfast room was smartly decorated, very clean and tidy. Some parts of the hotel had been updated and refurbished, looking very good. I was disappointed to see that the original external façade—those hanging flower baskets and the Virginia creeper giving the building a countryside feel—had been removed when we parked. The grassed area around the family room we stayed in was nice, but a glass shelf in the bathroom was loose, which felt unsafe with our daughter. The WHB tap and toilet roll holder were also loose. The water temperature was very hot; a hot‑water control valve would have helped in a family room. We were woken at 5.40 am by a refuse lorry pulling up near our window to collect trash.

Clean. The mattress was not great, pillows were bad, and staff in the bedroom made a lot of noise late at night, so I didn’t sleep well.
