The hosts were very friendly and open, welcomed us to their temple, let the kids ring the bell, and played soccer with the host’s children; the view from our balcony over the temple was beautiful, and we could watch a Buddhist ceremony in the morning; the hostess speaks perfect English and Spanish; we had a very enriching stay thanks to the hosts and recommend the place.

The accommodation is located in the historic area called Kononsai in northern Lake Biwa, surrounded by many temples, and staying at the atmospheric temple was memorable; the experience of making temple breakfast was a delightful memory; we also happened to join the town’s summer festival, which the grandchildren loved; the host priest and family were hospitable and very good.

Going through the morning ritual with our two kids was a very nice experience; the hosts are friendly and down to earth; the only drawback is that the toilet and bath are downstairs in the garage, but that is very minor.
