How guests rate the property, aspect by aspect.
The breakfast was excellent, plentiful, and varied. The hosts were charming, and so was the house cat, Nina. The room was comfortable with a stunning view and an open terrace, and everything was well equipped. Driving access is tricky because the road is slanted and narrow, and the residential area has no shops or restaurants nearby—everything is at least 4 km away in Hout Bay. Book in advance, as options are limited.

The view was truly superb, and breakfast was also great. Maintenance was a bit lacking: the terrace door couldn’t be locked, and the toilet seat was loose.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the premises were very pleasant. The large terrace offered a fantastic view, and breakfast was good. Unfortunately, the terrace doors or sliding windows were completely leaky. During a howling storm in the fall it was extremely loud, drafty, and cold, and even after “repair” it was only slightly better.

The guesthouse sits in a safe, leafy suburb without any guard or electronic access control, making it a perfect base for anyone who wants to reach Cape Town, Cape Point or the eastern Peninsula easily. The rooms are spacious – we stayed in a family room with three bedrooms – and the beds were very comfortable, while the view over the large garden, pool and the valley beyond was simply stunning. Breakfast offered a huge selection of fruit and dishes that could be ordered from a menu, and the coffee was excellent; the staff were friendly, professional and clearly well‑managed. The only possible drawback is that a main road between Cape Town and Hout Bay runs along the property, bringing commuter traffic in the evenings, but we didn’t notice any disturbing noise thanks to the dense planting around the deep garden.

The unit itself is stunning and the facilities are genuinely lovely, which makes it all the more frustrating that the experience fell so far short of the price point (R3,500 per night). From arrival, the hosting felt cold and unwelcoming. There are numerous house rules, including no eating in the room, that were not communicated prior to booking, which is not acceptable at this price point. Privacy was a serious issue. Staff accessed the private deck on multiple occasions without any prior notice, and then failed to leave the area even after walking in on a private moment between guests. This is simply not okay and reflects a lack of basic respect for guests’ dignity and personal space. Breakfast was also a letdown, with long waits, no self-serve option, and long life milk used in coffees. These feel like cost-cutting measures that don’t belong in a premium guesthouse. The overall feeling was of a well-appointed hostel, beautiful on the surface, but monitored, restrictive, and lacking in warmth. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend it to others based on the experience we had
