“Comfortable and quiet”
The place was a bit out of town but still within a good walking distance—about 20 minutes on a flat route, which was fine for me. Parking was easy and the dead‑end road kept it very quiet, a nice change from noisy Lisbon. The apartment was spacious, with all the usual amenities and cooking utensils, and the shared bathroom was manageable because the apartment only had three rooms. Air‑con and Wi‑Fi worked great, which was a huge plus. The first thing we noticed was the smell, like floors mopped with a very dirty mop; the overall mustiness didn’t go away the whole time we were there. It seemed things were “cleaned” but not properly—rugs were mopped around and looked never washed, even the rug in our room had hair stuck to it. Corners were dusty with dirt and hair, especially around the clothes rack, showing quick sweeping rather than proper vacuuming. The bathroom was the same. I’ve stayed in dirtier rooms, so this place was passable by comparison, but we bought a scent diffuser for our room and it helped a lot. The fridge was packed and full of moldy food—a bag of shredded cheese, vegetables, half‑eaten pre‑made salad—which I just tossed because it was obvious no one else had touched it. Those items stayed in the kitchen bin the whole time we were there and stunk! The only other issue was that our neighbors in the room next to us complained that their air‑con stopped working, and the resolution was to give them our remote without consulting us. We came back one day to find the remotes had been swapped out, and that remote didn’t work for us either, so we had to message the property to get the original remote back. It was a quick fix but an odd experience.
