The location was convenient for our friends, and the hotel food was very good. The room was on the top floor on a hot day, and it was noisy from the main road, so we had to close the window, making the room stuffy even though there was a fan that we had to lower because it was noisy. The bed was very soft.

We were happy with the friendly staff and the dogs were welcomed. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and even had highland cows on the bedding and thick towels. Wi‑Fi worked fine on our phones, and the room offered chocolate biscuits with instant coffee and still water bottles, which was a nice touch. However, traffic noise started around 5 am on Sunday because our room faced the road next to the building. The shower head holder was falling apart, but we managed to keep it working. The Wi‑Fi signal was too weak for the TV, though we didn’t watch it. Breakfast was disappointing; the menu items were missing from the kitchen, but with only the two of us that was understandable.

The manager was lovely, and the room was spotless and comfortable. The road was very noisy all night, and the pub and kitchen were closed on Monday and Tuesday, so there was no breakfast. It definitely wasn’t disabled‑friendly, which made it hard for me. This should be stated in the advertisement.

There were many nice extras like snacks and toiletries, the room had been freshly painted with tasteful décor, plenty of natural light, and the shower had good water pressure. The mattress was past its use‑by date and I was woken several times by hard springs digging into my side. Plumbing noise from the neighbouring room’s shower—six times between 5 pm and 9 am the next morning—was loud, and the cistern in my loo didn’t refill because of the drop in water pressure from the neighbouring shower.
